ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΟ. Οι “WHY NOT the band?” είναι ένα rock σχήμα που δημιουργήθηκε από τους Μανόλη Λιακάκη (φωνή, ακουστική και ηλεκτρική κιθάρα) και Μάνο Σμαργιαννάκη (φωνή, ακουστική κιθάρα) το χειμώνα του 2005 και μέχρι το 2010 η πορεία του ήταν γεμάτη από live εμφανίσεις και συνεργασίες με γνωστά συγκροτήματα.

Από το Μάρτιο του 2011 ο Μάνος Σμαργιαννάκης δεν αποτελεί πλέον μέλος της μπάντας. Επίσης όλα τα τραγούδια τα οποία δημιουργήθηκαν όλα αυτά τα χρόνια πλέον δεν υφίστανται. Η μπάντα παρόλα αυτά εξακολουθεί να ΥΠΑΡΧΕΙ και να "τρέχει" από τον Μανόλη Λιακάκη με την υπερπολύτιμη βοήθεια του Μάνου Τερζάκη.

Κορυφαία στιγμή του συγκροτήματος αποτελεί η συμμετοχή του στο άνοιγμα της μεγάλης συναυλίας των JAMES και PURESSENCE στο Παγκρήτιο Στάδιο στις 24/07/2010. Σύμφωνα με δήλωση του Tim Booth οι JAMES άκουσαν τη μουσική των “WHY NOT the band?” και έδωσαν το ok για να ανοίξουν τη συναυλία τους, ενώ ο James Mudriczki (PURESSENCE) τους παρότρυνε να συνεχίσουν την προσπάθεια και μην τα παρατήσουν καθώς τους έκανε μεγάλη εντύπωση η ανταπόκριση του κόσμου στα τραγούδια των “WHY NOT the band?”!! Επίσης έχουν συμμετάσχει σε αρκετές εκδηλώσεις (ανοίγοντας συναυλίες των Closer, Raining Pleasure, Film, Matisse, GAD, Monsieur Minimal και Lumiere Brother) στην πόλη του Ηρακλείου και σε άλλα μέρη του νησιού αλλά και εκτός αυτού.

Τα χρόνια 2007-2010, παράλληλα με τις ζωντανές τους εμφανίσεις, δουλεύουν πάνω σε δικό τους υλικό σε rock, pop και blues ύφος με αγγλικό στίχο. Αποτέλεσμα της προσπάθειας αυτής είναι και η πρώτη τους δισκογραφική δουλειά, η ηχογράφηση της οποίου ολοκληρώθηκε πρόσφατα. Τελευταίο δείγμα της δουλειάς τους (2010) αποτελούν τα κομμάτια “One Thousand Ordinary People”, “How Tough Could It Be”, “Flame Boy”, “Fool Man’s Letter” και “You Killed Our Love”, την επιμέλεια παραγωγής των οποίων έχει ο μουσικός παραγωγός Μάνος Τερζάκης με υπεύθυνο ηχοληψίας και ηχογράφησης τον Κώστα Μανουσάκη. Στην πρώτη τους αυτή ολοκληρωμένη δισκογραφική δουλειά περιλαμβάνονται και τα κομμάτια “Meet You In Heaven”, “Let Me Go Now”, “Broke An Angel’s Heart”, “So Charming”, “Do You See What I See”, “Time To Go”, “Lady Love” και “Spend Sometime With Me”, την επιμέλεια παραγωγής, ηχοληψίας και ηχογράφησης έχει ο μουσικός παραγωγός Μάνος Τερζάκης.

Όπως προαναφέρθηκε, όλα τα τραγούδια τα οποία δημιουργήθηκαν κατά την περίοδο 2007-2010 πλέον δεν υφίστανται.

"WHY NOT the band?" is a rock band created by Manoli Liakaki (vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, music composer) and Mano Smargiannaki (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, lyrics & music composer) in the winter of 2005.

Since March 2011 Manos Smargiannakis is no longer a member of the band and all the songs that were composed till 2010 doesn't exist anymore. Manolis Liakakis (electric guitar player) is still running the band from scratch with the most valuable help of Manos Terzakis.

The time between 2006-2010 was full of live appearances of their own but also in collaboration with known groups. Their leading moment constitutes their attendance as an openning act of big concert of JAMES and PURESSENCE in Pagkritio Stadium in the 24/07/2010. According to statement of Tim Booth, JAMES heard the music of "WHY NOT the band?" and gave the admittance to open their concert, while James Mudriczki (PURESSENCE) did prompt them not to abandon but to continue their effort because it made a big impression to them the correspondence of the audience to the songs of "WHY NOT the band?"!!
Also they have participated in lots of events in the city of Heraklion (playing with Closer, Raining Pleasure, Film, Matisse, GAD, Monsieur Minimal and Lumiere Brother) and in other parts of Crete as well as outside the island.
From their first live people embraced them with enthusiasm filling stiflingly the places that the band was presented. The program that they present is an alloy of songs of classic rock scene, with lots of pop influences, executed with their own personal unplugged style.

In the last years (2007-2010), in addition with their live appearances, they work on their own material in rock, pop and blues style with English verse. Result of this effort is also their first music recording album which was completed recently (2010). Last sample of their work were the songs: "One Thousand Ordinary People", "How Tough Could It Be", "Flame Boy", "Fool Man's Letter" and "You Killed Our Love", the production assiduity of which has the producer Manos Terzakis and the recordings responsibility has the sound engineer Kostas Manousakis.

In this first completed music recording album are also included the songs: "Meet You In Heaven", "Let Me Go Now", "Broke An Angel's Heart", "So Charming", "Do You See What I See", "Time To Go", "Lady Love" and "Spend Sometime With Me", the production and recording assiduity of which has the producer Manos Terzakis. All recorded tracks were made with the most valuable help of Manos Terzakis in programming, mixing and mastering.

They also had in their asset the tracks "Blues Time Hour", "Lady Baby", "What's Wrong With You", "All I Want Is You", "So blue So Sad" and "Me And The Mirror" which aren't recorded.

As been already said all the songs that were composed till 2010 doesn't exist anymore.
