ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΟ. A band apart is the alias under which Iraklis Gialatsidis and Spiros Pagiatakis, former Swan Christy members, make music.
First release was the self titled "a band apart" album. It's musical styles form what is the base of the band's musical world. Intense melodies, experimental beats, a cinematic atmosphere and style that tranceds many musical genres.The album also features vocalist Kostas Makris (ex. Swan Christy) and saxophonist Elan Manouach.
The second release of the band is the album "Empty days". Recorded over almost 3 years this album took the band many steps further both sonically and musically. This release travels from melancholic melodies and rich intricate soundscapes to frantic beats and musical experiments.
The third and current release of the band is called "The Secret Life of Potentiometers" and marks the turn of the band to a darker, electrified and heavier sound. Having not lost their melodic nature and cinematic feel the duo reinvented their approach and the result is a very energetic and melodic album that refuses categorization. Synths, distorted beats, guitars, vocoders and vocals form a unique and signature sound. Created over almost 2 years.
The band is for sometime now working on their follow up called "Lonesome Robots". Four songs have been created already and the sound and style has evolved once more. Picking up from the harder sound and energetic feel of the previous release the duo continues to enrich their music and sonic world to new levels. Although far from completion the new album features some of the band's best work.
